Help and FAQs

How Inloco works?

Inloco is a simple, quick way to ask the people you trust with your children if they can lend a hand. Visit our Families page for more information.

No, we’re different to a childcare agency. Our model is community-based, and gives you a platform to build your own circles of trusted childcare, only involving people you know and trust. You can find out all about our model in our Terms of Use and on our website.

Inloco is based in the UK and is a new childcare community created by two mums who believe there is a better way to arrange childcare. We have communities growing in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, London, Surrey and Brighton. We are growing everyday and would be delighted to talk with you about bringing Inloco to your area, please get in touch at hello@myinloco.com

You can either share Inloco with friends, families and childcarers you already know and trust, or by adding your local schools and nurseries to your profile and connecting with friends. We’ll help you discover new childcarers and families, trusted by people you already know.

    • Share Inloco here.
    • Update your profile here.
    • Discover new connections here.

When you view a profile on Inloco, if you have any connections in common (people you are both connected to) their pictures will be displayed. Checking if a profile shares mutual connections with you is a great way to find people you trust. You can also read reviews and recommendations from the people you trust, or message your connections if you prefer to ask them anything directly.

We think it’s really important that you only connect with the people you want to have in your childcare circle. So if you decline a connection request, we simply remove you from the other user’s list of pending connections, and we don’t notify them that you’ve declined.

If you and another Inloco member have added the same school or nursery to your profile, it will be displayed as a ‘shared school’. This can help you discover new families or childcarers connected to your local school or nursery.

Recommendations are a great way to boost your Inloco profile. You can ask anyone you have completed a booking with to give you a recommendation here. You then choose whether you want to display this on your Inloco profile or not. You can display up to five recommendations.

Ratings, reviews, recommendations and mutual connections are available to help parents find the right childcarers to support their family. Inloco doesn’t conduct any vetting, checks or interviews so parents should always conduct the necessary checks to ensure they are 100% happy with their chosen childcarer.

After each booking is completed on Inloco we’ll ask you to leave a personal review for the childcarer or family the booking was completed with. You are able to edit a review you have left for another user by visiting that user’s profile page, clicking on their star rating and editing the review.

The safety of children and childcarers is of utmost importance to us. It’s essential that families and carers know how Inloco works to protect them.

Firstly, we are a community that connects families and childcarers, not an agency or childcare directory service. That means we rely on the community to review, recommend and report. Secondly, we are built on trust, so you stay in control by only connecting with people you know or trust.

Inloco connects busy families with a circle of trusted friends and childcarers and puts parents in control, giving you better choices and childcare options. Inloco doesn’t conduct any vetting, checks or interviews so parents should always conduct the necessary checks to ensure they are 100% happy with their chosen childcarer.

Your privacy matters

At Inloco, your privacy is our top priority. We appreciate that you put your trust in us when you provide us with your information and we do not take this lightly. We strive to be transparent in the way we process your data and to communicate with you clearly, so you can easily understand what data we collect, why we collect it and what we do with it. You can find out more in our privacy policy here.

Here’s an overview of the key data that we share with other Inloco users:

Your profile:
When you sign up and create a profile on Inloco this is visible to local Inloco families and childcarers. You can view your own profile here at any time and check you are happy with the information you are sharing.

Shared schools and mutual connections:
When you view another member’s profile, the schools and connections that you have in common will be displayed. This helps you build your own trusted Inloco childcare circle.

Booking details:
The details a parent adds to a booking are only visible to the childcarers who receive that booking request. Mobile numbers will only be shared once a family confirms the booking.

Reviews or recommendations you have given:
Building trusted relationships and connections is at the heart of Inloco. By adding honest reviews and recommendations for other Inloco members, you’ll be doing your bit to help build your trusted local childcare community. The reviews and recommendations that you leave for another user will be visible on their profile page.

Payments on Inloco

Once the booking has been completed, you can choose to pay either by cash or by card. It’s always up to you and your carer. No matter how you pay, childcarers always get 100% of the rate you’ve agreed.

Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider (you can even add a tip), and you simply pay with the tap of a button. If you choose cash, just settle up between yourselves, but don’t forget to complete the booking on Inloco and add a review.

After you have paid by card through Inloco for the first time, our payment provider securely registers your details to save you re-entering them next time.

We use a well established and secure payment provider, Mangopay. Mangopay process card payments directly to a childcarer’s chosen bank account, so the money is paid the next working day. There is also no minimum transaction amount. We add a small fee to cover the cost of this secure, hassle-free processing. Once a family has made their first childcare payment by card, Mangopay will securely register your card details so you can simply pay with the tap of a button next time. Easy.

We accept Visa, Mastercard and Maestro.

We add a small fee if you choose to pay your childcarer by card. This covers the cost of the secure card payment service – there are no other booking or membership fees for families. For childcarer payments up to £100 a fee of £3.50 is added, and for childcarer payments over £100 a fee of 3.75% of the childcarer payment is added. That means a £50 booking will cost you £53.50 by card, and a £120 booking will cost a total of £124.50 by card.

Payments from families to childcarers are processed the next working day. If a payment from a family hasn’t been processed, the first thing to do is to check the status of this payment in your completed bookings and contact the family. They may need to add their card details if there was an error. A confirmation email is sent once a payment has been processed successfully. We also send updates if there has been a problem with your payment. If you are still experiencing difficulties, please get in touch with us at hello@myinloco.com.

Bookings on Inloco

We know that sometimes plans have to change. So you can amend or cancel a booking at any time by opening the booking on your booking screen. We just ask that you always try and give as much notice as possible and always communicate really clearly with the family or childcarer you are cancelling.

Your chosen childcarer will respond to your booking request with their availability and hourly rate. We’ll email you (or send you an SMS / whatsapp if it’s last minute) as soon as we know someone is available to help. You simply pick the right one for the job, then confirm the booking in seconds. You have complete control over who you choose.

Absolutely. When you view a childcarer’s profile you’ll be able to see what sort of jobs they are happy to help you with. These range from specific types of childcare, to broader home life support. Some people can help you with pet care, errands, household chores – and even watering the plants! Please just mention the specific help you are looking for when you create your booking.

We normally use email for booking updates, but if it’s a last-minute booking or a change at short notice we’ll also contact you by text message or whatsapp, whichever you’ve told us you prefer.
We try not to bombard you with messages so we only get in touch about a booking to tell you if someone is available to help, or if you’re a childcarer when you have had a booking confirmed by a family. We don’t message you when someone declines a booking, but you can visit Inloco to find out the latest status of your bookings at any time.

    • You will only be able to accept cash payments from families if you are under 18 years old.
    • Your public profile will display your age if you are under 21 years – this is to help families make the right childcarer choice for their family.
    • Childcarers under 18 years old need to provide the email address of their parent or guardian when they sign up. When a booking is confirmed we will send them a copy of your booking confirmation. This means they will always have a record of the family, date and time of your booking before it happens.

For registered childminders and Ofsted-registered nannies, it is a legal requirement to have appropriate public liability insurance that covers you whilst working with children. Babysitters and independent nannies don’t have the same legal obligation, so it is your choice if you wish to take out insurance. There are a number of child care insurance providers who can offer tailored cover to suit your work such as www.mortonmichel.com.

Childcarers are sent an email asking you to upload photo ID. This can be any one of the following:

UK, USA, Canadian nationals – Passport or Driving Licence

SEPA (EU) area nationals – ID Card, Passport or Driving License

All other nationalities – Passport

If your ID is rejected:

    • check the image is clear and sharp.
    • check the image is not cropped or incomplete.
    • check the ID document is valid and has not expired.
    • for ID cards you need to include an image of the front and back of the ID card.
    • your ID document must match the name on your account, you can visit My Account to update your details.

How Inloco works?

Inloco lets you pick and choose the jobs that work for you, work the hours that you want, and grow your circle of trusted families. Whether you’re looking for occasional babysitting or part-time childcare work, Inloco is designed to help you thrive. Visit our Childcarers page to find out more.

Our minimum childcarer age is 15 years old. If you’re between 15 and 21 years old, there are a few differences to your membership.

Safety on Inloco

Yes, the minimum childcarer age on Inloco is 15 years.

Ratings, reviews, recommendations and mutual connections are all available to help parents find the right childcarers to support their family, you can also message your connections if you prefer to ask anything directly before you make a childcarer choice.

We use a well established and secure payment provider, Mangopay. Mangopay process card payments directly to a childcarer’s chosen bank account, so the money is paid the next working day. There is also no minimum transaction amount. We add a small fee to cover the cost of this secure, hassle-free processing. Once a family has made their first childcare payment by card, Mangopay will securely register your card details so you can simply pay with the tap of a button next time. Easy.

We accept Visa, Mastercard and Maestro.

Before you can respond to your first childcare booking, you’ll need to add your bank account details (if you are over 18 years of age). This is so we know where to send your money if the family choose to pay you by card – it’ll just take a couple of minutes, and it’s all completely secure. We’ll send you an email once you join so you can do this.

After each booking, the family will either pay you by card or cash, whatever you have agreed with them. You then receive 100% of the rate agreed with the family, with card payments arriving in your account the next working day. Simple! Payments are managed securely by our verified provider so your details are always completely safe.

When a family adds you to a booking request we’ll ask you to respond with your availability and hourly rate. You stay in control of who you want to work for, the rate you charge and when you are available to work. Families pick the right childcarer for the job, and if you’ve been selected you’ll receive a message confirming the booking. We try not to bombard you with messages so we only contact you when you have a booking confirmed, but you can visit Inloco to find out the latest status of your bookings at any time.
